Andreazzoli: ‘Fixtures hard for Empoli’

Empoli Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli admits “it’s certainly not an advantage” to face Napoli straight after Juventus but “this is the fixture list and we knew it”.

The Tuscan side travel to Naples tomorrow night to face the Partenopei, having been narrowly beaten at home by Juventus last time out.

“This is the fixture list and we knew it,” Andreazzoli said in his pre-match Press conference.

The Tuscan side travel to Naples tomorrow night to face the Partenopei, having been narrowly beaten at home by Juventus last time out.

“This is the fixture list and we knew it,” Andreazzoli said in his pre-match Press conference.

“Facing all the big teams at home was certainly not an advantage, just as it’s certainly not an advantage to go to Napoli just after meeting the Bianconeri.

“We’re going to play against a very strong team, very dangerous and difficult to interpret.

“We’re aware of what we have to do, but at the same time it makes it more difficult in terms of the league position.

“We’re asking those with more experience to transfer their knowledge, but we also need the younger ones to step up.”

Cristiano Ronaldo got a double to give Juve the win over Empoli at the weekend, but Andreazzoli doesn’t think he was the best player on the park.

“Ronaldo got man-of-the-match, but I think [Ismael] Bennacer was the best, without a doubt. Obviously he scored his goal, with a powerful shot, but Caputo’s goal was much more beautiful, both in the build-up and the finish.

“He aimed for the top corner, CR7 hit it hard but he wasn’t aiming there. Then when it went in it was a beautiful goal.”
