Ancelotti set to sign Napoli contract

Carlo Ancelotti will sign his Napoli contract imminently, reports suggest, but an official announcement could take some time.

The Coach is expected to replace Maurizio Sarri on the Partenopei bench, returning to Serie A after leaving Milan in 2009.

Carletto was spotted at President Aurelio De Laurentiis’ house yesterday, and Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli – the official radio station of the club – says his contract will be officially signed soon.

However, the station also warns fans not to expect an imminent announcement, because Sarri’s future has to be resolved first.

Napoli can sack him for €500,000 before the end of this month, but if another club wants to sign him in that same time period they’ll have to pay €8m.

Zenit St Petersburg and Chelsea are both thought to be interested, but clearly the Partenopei would prefer them to pay Sarri’s clause.

For that reason, they won’t sack him in the coming hours to make way for Ancelotti.
