Massimiliano Allegri insists his Milan side will not purely be playing for the draw they need in the game against Ajax.

The Rossoneri need just a point to progress to the knock-out stages of the Champions League at San Siro on Wednesday.

“We have the advantage of being able to get two results out of three,” the tactician told Milan Channel today.

“But there’s a lot at stake. We’ll have to be very attentive and we can’t just defend the 0-0.

“We have to go into the match with calmness and determination. It’s a football match like the others and tomorrow a draw would be the same as a win, but we have to take to the pitch to win.”

Milan have struggled in Serie A recently, having won just one of their last seven games. They drew 2-2 with Livorno at the weekend.

“Against Livorno we found a team that got at us well,” Allegri continued. “We showed a bit of carelessness in the two goals, but we didn’t run many other risks in the match.

“The second goal was our fault and we can’t let that happen tomorrow. In the Champions League, the games are different as all teams want to win. We shouldn’t give away any goal scoring chances.

“Tomorrow’s a fundamental match and it’s the second objective of the season. It won’t be easy but the fans will be fantastic.

“The fans will play a fundamental part as what’s at stake is entrance to the final 16. Nothing can be taken for granted.

“Ajax are in good form. They’re playing well, but we’re the home team. We have to be aggressive and competitive to win the match.”
