Allegri: ‘Juve better in CL’

Massimiliano Allegri thinks Juventus this year were ‘better in the Champions League than last season’, despite going out in the last 16.

The Bianconeri were beaten in the final by Barcelona in 2015, but crashed out in the first knockout round this season following a thrilling 6-4 aggregate defeat against Bayern Munich.

Allegri believes that the way his team approached games against the big teams shows a marked improvement from a year before.

Allegri believes that the way his team approached games against the big teams shows a marked improvement from a year before.

“This year we did better in the Champions League than last season, it’s true that we got to the final last year, but it’s difficult to get there every year,” he told Rai Uno.

“The best thing was the fast growth in playing on a par with the big teams of Europe, which must be Juve’s objective.

“Then there are too many things that affect the competition, from favourable episodes to how you arrive from a physical perspective. We’re hoping to be even better next year and a little bit luckier.”
