Their 1-0 victory away to Brescia, coupled with results earlier this afternoon, leave them eight points clear at the top of the table with four rounds remaining.

“That is a big gap,” said the Coach. “Another four points would secure the Scudetto. Now we have to focus on having a relaxing Easter break and from Wednesday we'll start thinking about Bologna, another difficult game seeing as they're getting sucked back into the relegation battle."

As Milan have a superior head-to-head record against both Inter and Napoli, ending equal top would still give them the title, so it is virtually a nine-point lead.

“We're not planning any title celebrations. Right now we just need to relax over Easter,” continued Allegri.

“We had two or three risky situations with Brescia, as unfortunately we didn't make our first half domination count.

“It's only natural to have a little fatigue, as we played in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday evening, but the lads held out well.

“The defence was solid and I have to compliment Christian Abbiati, who has been decisive in numerous games when called upon. Antonio Cassano impressed and could've scored, but he set up the goal for Robinho.

“The team overall created plenty of scoring opportunities and deserved the victory.”

Gennaro Gattuso was originally named in the starting XI, but pulled out with a muscular problem during the warm-up.
