The Bianconeri have just one win in five Serie A games, a 3-2 comeback victory away to Spezia midweek, and managed one point in their two home fixtures.

“We must try to win the first game at home, to get points. We have to take it one game at a time,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

“Sampdoria are a tough side, they have technique, are well-organised under Roberto D’Aversa, so we need to be fully focused.”

Juve appear to be in a 4-4-2 formation, with Juan Cuadrado moved back to the right-back role after working in the attacking trio under Allegri.

“Danilo needs to rest, we want Cuadrado to give a bit more of an attacking push down that side. He is capable of playing as a full-back and we need everyone sharp because the substitutes can be decisive in these games.”

Inter were held to a 2-2 draw by Atalanta last night, so Allegri was asked about the chance to close up two points on the huge gap between Juventus and the reigning champions.

“We know the importance of the game, of getting the first victory at home and then we’ll see,” he smiled.

“At this moment, there’s no point looking at the table. Getting to the top half would already be a good result right now, but what we want is some consistency.”
