Now that Milan have tied down Sandro Tonali to a new contract, they’re focusing their efforts on agreeing new deals with Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao, reports suggest.

The Rossoneri have been hard at work over the last few months, protecting their key first team players with new long-term contracts. Some have already agreed new deals, like Fikayo Tomori and Rade Krunic, and now Milan are preparing for tough negotiations with two more first team regulars.

As highlighted by TMW, Bennacer’s current contract expires with Milan in 2024 and the club are keen to extend this to 2026 or 2027. They’re planning to double his salary, from €1.7m to €3.5m net per season, but that’s still far off his €4.5m net request. A release clause could also be included.

The hardest set of negotiations are likely to be with Leao. The 23-year-old and his agent Jorge Mendes are looking for a new five-year deal worth €7m net per season, a huge raise from his current €1.3m. Milan are offering €4.5m net, but they could reach the player’s demands thanks to the Growth Decree.

Working is also ongoing to tie down Pierre Kalulu to a new deal, but this’ll be a significantly easier set of talks compared to Bennacer and Leao.
