Abraham injury buries Roma hopes of summer sale

The serious anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered by Tammy Abraham will keep him sidelined for the rest of the year and has ruined Roma’s chances of selling the Englishman this summer.

The 25-year-old striker suffered the painful knee injury just 16 minutes into the Giallorossi’s final match of the season after colliding with former Chelsea teammate Ethan Ampadu.

The injury immediately looked severe and now Abraham will be sidelined for around eight to nine months, needing a delicate operation to resolve the problem. He’s expected to be out of action until March 2024 at the earliest.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Abraham’s injury all but rules out a move away from Roma in the upcoming summer transfer window, stopping the club from cashing in on the former Chelsea man.

The 25-year-old shined in his debut season in the Italian capital, scoring 17 goals in 37 Serie A games, but things were more difficult this campaign, leaving him with just eight goals in 38 league outings.
