Rudiger: ‘Happy at Roma’

Antonio Rüdiger is “happy at Roma” and describes Francesco Totti as “an icon of Italian football”.

The centre-back joined the Giallorossi from Stuttgart last summer, on loan with a €9m buyout clause.

While it seems almost certain that the Lupi will activate that clause, there has been speculation he could be sold on for a quick profit, with Liverpool thought to be interested.

The centre-back joined the Giallorossi from Stuttgart last summer, on loan with a €9m buyout clause.

While it seems almost certain that the Lupi will activate that clause, there has been speculation he could be sold on for a quick profit, with Liverpool thought to be interested.

“I’m happy at Roma, and I like living in this city,” Rüdiger assured Funke Sport.

“Then of course you never know what will happen in football. Maybe the club will have other ideas, or something will happen after the Euros.

“I’m looking to the future with confidence though.”

The German international was also asked about Giallorossi captain Francesco Totti.

“Francesco is an icon, a Roman in every respect. He’s had a lot of chances in his career to go to other clubs, but he remained faithful to his club.

“Quite simply he’s an icon of Italian football.”
