Barcelona are ranking last night’s 4-0 destruction of Milan as one of the greatest victories of their glorious history.
The Spanish outfit had a 2-0 first leg deficit to overturn and did so in spectacular fashion against the Diavolo.
“We will remember this for years,” Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta commented after the Champions League tie.
“From the very first minute we pressured them really well high up the pitch and we didn’t let them think.
“They’ve shown us why they are in the Champions League, but I believe we played an excellent match. We were very organised going forward, we had rhythm and a lot of continuity.
“Messi’s two goals were great for the team, Villa’s was very important and Alba made everyone’s dreams come true.
“I’m very happy for all of them. We saw a lot of positive things and it’s worth sitting down and analysing it all when we’ve calmed down a bit.”
Zubizarreta, a former Spanish international goalkeeper, also hailed the performance of midfielder Sergio Busquets.
“His match was amazing,” continued the official. “Because it’s the style of football that is taught in our youth system.”
