Italian legend Dino Zoff thinks the Azzurri did enough in the first 45 minutes of their 1-1 draw with Croatia to win the game.
“It’s a real shame,” the Euro 2000 boss told TMW. “It’s disappointing because the team wasted a lot of scoring opportunities in the first period. They should have doubled their lead.
“The team descended slightly after half-time and then we conceded that goal which penalised us.”
Coach Cesare Prandelli decided to make no changes to the side which drew 1-1 with Spain on Sunday, a decision Zoff agreed with.
“I think Prandelli fielded the right team,” the ex-Juventus and Lazio tactician continued. “We were just a little unfortunate that we didn’t finish off our chances.”
Manchester City enigma Mario Balotelli was again replaced by Antonio Di Natale in the second half. “I liked Mario’s performance,” concluded the goalkeeping great.
