He turned 26 this week and had been given a few days off to treat an injury in Argentina, but instead a Lazio fan sensationally said he spotted Zarate on vacation in the Maldives instead.
According to reports, Lazio are furious and will dock him 30 per cent of his wages, while the club could even take him to court.
Zarate had already been close to leaving the Olimpico in January with several Russian clubs interested, but it’s now suggested Brazilian side Santos are ready to make an offer.
