Coach Giampiero Ventura needed reinforcements and has called in Zappacosta, who only just flew out to London on Thursday evening to complete his transfer from Torino to Chelsea.

The 25-year-old is a right-back who can also play as a right-wing-back.

Zappacosta has four senior Italy caps to his name, but has not been in the squad since March.
