The Colombian forward scored a brace when Atalanta turned on the style to start 2021 with a 5-1 hammering of Sassuolo, but the striker immediately focused on the next match against Parma on Wednesday.
“We restarted well,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “They’re a great team but we put them in great difficulty.
“I’m happy with the goals, but above all I’m happy with the team’s performance. We’re still the same, sometimes we give away a little, but today it was important to win and we did.
“We take one step at a time, now our heads are on Parma.”
Zapata, who joined Atalanta from Sampdoria in July 2018, has scored five goal in 14 Serie A games this term, his 53 in 101 competitive matches for La Dea.
The 29-year-old admitted after the match that he was close to joining the Neroverdi when he first arrived in Italy, before his stint at Napoli.
“As soon as I arrived in Italy, I was close to joining Sassuolo, but then I ended up at Napoli.”
