Javier Zanetti revealed Dani Osvaldo tried to attack Inter Coach Roberto Mancini and warned Mauro Icardi to “respect the fans.”
Former captain Zanetti retired last summer and is now working behind the scenes at the club.
When speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he confirmed some rumours about what pushed Osvaldo towards Boca Juniors just six months into his loan spell.
“Was I more angry or disappointed by Osvaldo? More angry, but he was angry with himself too,” said Zanetti.

“He realised that trying to lay his hands on the Coach was a serious mistake. He wasted a great opportunity in his career.”
It’s reported that incident happened in the locker room after the 1-1 draw with Juventus, when Osvaldo had tried to attack teammate Icardi on the pitch.
Icardi got himself into trouble too, as after arguing with fans after the 3-1 defeat to Sassuolo, he refused to celebrate his two goals past Palermo.
“It is up to us to help him understand how you have to behave in a big club,” continued Zanetti.
“The first thing we always say is we must have respect for the fans. What was worse, Mario Balotelli throwing his shirt to the ground or Icardi refusing to celebrate? Clearly Mario’s, but they are both unpleasant incidents.
“Would I bet on Icardi still being at Inter next season? It is our intention and we’re working on a contract renewal. Then, we all know, in football nothing is guaranteed.”
