And the defender has insisted that he always thought his countryman would do well, but declined to comment on the Rossoneri’s tough start.

“Udine is always a difficult place to go,” he told reporters. “I thought we played well though, and deserved the three points.

“With [Indonesian businessman Erick] Thohir at the helm now, I think we can get better and better.

“Milan? I can’t give an opinion on their problems. But remember we’re talking about a big club.

“I’m really happy for Alvarez. We always believed he could do well here. It was a difficult year for him, but now he’s proving his value.”
