Who could replace Nicola at Salernitana?

Salernitana need to find a new head coach following their dismissal of Davide Nicola and they already have a number of options in mind.

The Campania outfit just suffered an embarrassing 8-2 loss to Atalanta, leaving them in a tough spot just above the relegation zone. Salernitana have picked up 18 points from 18 games this season and have lost four of their last five games, putting them at risk of slipping down to the second division.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Salernitana are considering a number of potential candidates to replace Nicola as head coach. Topping the list are former Champions League semi-finalist Eusebio Di Francesco, former SPAL coach Leonardo Semplici and former Parma man Roberto D’Aversa.

Other candidates include Walter Mazzarri and Paulo Sousa, with Salernitana keen to have a replacement ready before their Serie A clash with Napoli.

Nicola oversaw 34 Salernitana matches during his 11 months in charge, averaging 1.06 points per match. He did well to guide the club to safety last season, finishing just one point above 18th place Cagliari.
