Simone Inzaghi’s men will play in the Final in Istanbul on June 10 this season after beating Milan 3-0 on aggregate. Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan provided the goals in the first leg, while Lautaro Martinez’s strike helped the Nerazzurri secure a 1-0 win in the decider.
The Benamata will meet Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid or Pe Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Final. The La Liga and Premier League giants will face at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday after a 1-1 draw in Spain last week.
The Final will take place at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on June 10, 2023, with kick-off time at 20:00 GMT+1. It will be Inter’s sixth Final in Europe’s elite competition.
The Nerazzurri had reached the Champions League Final – formerly European Cup – five times, winning three and losing twice. They lifted the trophy in two consecutive seasons, in 1963-64 against Real Madrid and 1964-65 against Benfica, losing the Finals in 1967 against Celtic Glasgow and in 1972 against Ajax.
Simone Inzaghi is the second Italian coach in charge of Inter to qualify for the Final after Giovanni Invernizzi in 1972.
