According to recent updates, Belgium international Leander Dendoncker is expected to undergo his medical with Napoli on Wednesday ahead of a loan move from Premier League side Aston Villa.
Multiple journalists and outlets are reporting that Dendoncker is set to join Napoli on loan until the end of the 2022-23 season. The Partenopei will also have an option to buy clause included.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli will be able to sign Dendoncker permanently for a fee of €9m in June.
Dendoncker is currently under contract with Aston Villa until the summer of 2026, having signed a four-year contract after joining from Wolves in 2022.
Napoli have been busy in the January transfer window, having already bolstered their ranks with the signings of Pasquale Mazzocchi from Salernitana, Junior Hamed Traore on loan from Bournemouth and Cyril Ngonge from Hellas Verona.
The expected signing of Dendoncker will likely end Napoli’s pursuit of Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala, for whom the Partenopei had also been in talks.
