According to Tuttosport, Napoli and Atalanta are the only clubs still interested in signing Morten Thorsby as Watford have retired from the race to sign the Sampdoria midfielder.
Thorsby, 25, sees his contract expire in June 2023 and has attracted interest from many clubs around Europe.
However, according to Tuttosport, Napoli and Atalanta are now leading the race to secure his services as Premier League side Watford saw their €4m bid rejected and seem not willing to place a new offer.
According to the report, Sampdoria want at least €8m to sell the Norway international who moved to the Stadio Marassi on a free transfer from Heerenveen in the summer of 2019.
Napoli are on the lookout for midfield reinforcement as Diego Demme underwent surgery after sustaining a ligament injury and will remain out of action for two to three months.
Thorsby is one of Atalanta’s targets along with AZ Alkmaar’s Teun Koopmeiners.
