Celebrations have ignited in Genoa after their promotion to Serie A, with parties sparking across the streets of the Ligurian capital.
The Rossoblu suffered relegation to the second tier of Italian football in the 2021-22 season after finishing 19th in the table with 28 points. The team did not start this season in Serie B particularly well, but things changed after Alberto Gilardino was brought in as head coach in December.
Gilardino shined in the Genoa dug-out and brought them up the league table, averaging 2.29 points per match across his 21 Serie B games in charge so far, enough to take them second and secure promotion to Serie A.
