The father of 19-year-old Hajduk Split defender Mario Vuskovic confirms there are ‘three or four Serie A clubs interested’ in signing him.

He already has two caps for Croatia at Under-21 level and is a regular for the squad, with a contract that runs to June 2024.

Following links with Napoli in the media, Calciomercato.it contacted Vuskovic’s father, Daniel.

“I want to point out straight away that I have not spoken directly to any director or representative of Napoli. However, some agents who are dealing with moving players between Croatia and Italy told me that Mario is being watched carefully by three or four important Serie A clubs.

“I won’t name the clubs out of respect, but they really are very interested in my son. Serie A is a great league and who wouldn’t want to play there? I’d be an important step in Mario’s career.”

Pressed on the Napoli rumours, Vuskovic senior was again very careful.

“I repeat, I have not had any direct contact with Napoli, but we are talking about a top club, at the highest level. We’re happy in Split, let it be clear, but we’ll see what happens.

“The Hajduk directors told me the club coffers aren’t exactly overflowing, so he could leave with the right offer. We’ll know more over the next few weeks.”
