Dusan Vlahovic reveals ‘the difference’ between his form for Juventus this season compared to the past and why they will ‘not think about Inter’ just yet.
The Serbian has well and truly put any goal drought behind him, bagging braces both against Sassuolo last week and again this evening in Lecce.
His first was a volley into the ground and the second a tap-in, rather cheekily stealing the credit on the line, as Weston McKennie’s header was going into the net anyway.
Gleison Bremer rose to meet the Samuel Iling Junior free kick to seal the 3-0 scoreline.
“I am happy, especially as I got to help the team. I could not have scored those goals without the team, we hope to continue like this,” Vlahovic told DAZN.
Max Allegri is repeatedly shouting from the touchline for Vlahovic to be ‘calm’ and more relaxed, rather than let misses get to him.
“I am always calm, it’s just that perhaps my emotions look a bit more obvious on the pitch. We managed to win in a tough stadium against a team that had not lost here in four games.
“It is an important victory for us and above all we managed to keep a clean sheet too.”
Because Inter are away for the Supercoppa Italiana Final against Napoli in Riyadh on Monday, it means Juventus can temporarily go top of the table and could stay there going into the Scudetto showdown on February 4.
“We are not thinking about that. We take it one game at a time, the next is Empoli and then we’ll think about Inter.”
Vlahovic has already scored more goals this term than throughout all of last season. What made the difference?
“I am in good shape physically, it’s simple. That is the only difference. I am looking after myself, eating well, sleeping well, all things I did last year, but now thank God I am alright physically. I hope to continue like this.”
