“It’s right that I take responsibility for the mistake,” Viviano admitted in a post-match interview with Sky.

“It’s right that I take responsibility for the mistake,” Viviano admitted in a post-match interview with Sky.

“I’m disappointed, but I chose to do this job and the risk of an individual mistake is always there. I’m sorry for the lost point.

“I wanted to clear it, unfortunately these things happen, but it shouldn’t happen when you’re getting a result. It was my mistake which made the difference today.

“Today we found it a little harder to play than in previous games, because we were surprised by Cagliari’s high press which they hadn’t done in other games we’d seen.

“I’m happy with the reaction the team had after scoring though, a reaction we haven’t had up to now.”
