Milan teammates made Olivier Giroud laugh and cry with their tributes after he announced he will leave to join LAFC this summer.

The veteran striker confirmed what has been known for quite a few months already, that he would let his contract expire on June 30 and then make the move to Major League Soccer with LAFC.

As an example of how well-loved Giroud is within the Rossoneri camp, his teammates have been ebullient in their praise and gratitude for getting the chance to work with him.

Emotional Giroud

During his goodbye message on Milan TV, Giroud was also shown a video with messages from his teammates.

“Hi Oli, this is to thank you for everything you have given this Milan team. I could say lots of things, but I’ll see you soon, definitely on international duty,” said Theo Hernandez.

Yunus Musah perhaps didn’t help Giroud to feel any younger when revealing he “remember going to the Emirates to see you play as a kid. Getting to play with you was a dream come true. I wish you all the best in the world!”

Ismael Bennacer notes this was not just about being teammates, but true friends.

“I had heard people talk about you, but it was even better. In 10, 20 years, I know I’ll still be able to call you and you can call me. I’ll miss you.”

Matteo Gabbia came out with quite an unusual nickname for Giroud, calling him “Old Kangaroo,” which got a laugh out of the striker.

“You are a fantastic person, a World Champion and I will always carry you in my heart.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek joked that Giroud “will probably play another 10 years.”
