“It goes without saying that Antonio Conte was very disappointed when he got the injury,” agent Donato Di Campli told TMW Radio.
“Right to the end they were keeping up to date on the phone and Conte really wanted Verratti at the Euros. Unfortunately, due to these serious injury concerns, Marco had to pull out.
“Marco and I watch all the games together and are on the edge of our seat. At the moment a goal is scored, Verratti celebrates in a completely over the top way. He is Italy’s Number One Fan.
“This Italy side completely reflects their Coach. Conte is meticulous, precise and hard on his players to the right degree. He leaves nothing to chance.
“In my view Poland can cause an upset and go far in this tournament, as they have strong young players.”
Di Campli was also asked about Verratti’s future after several years at Paris Saint-Germain.
“I can categorically deny he’ll make a return to Serie A, as he is at the centre of an important club project. He will continue to play for PSG.”
