Verratti shares Jorginho vision

Marco Verratti said new Italy teammate Jorginho “sees football the same way I do, with ball to feet and seeking channels.”

The pair had their first start together for the Nazionale as part of a 4-3-3 formation in tonight’s 2-0 friendly defeat to Argentina.

“I get along well with Jorginho, he sees football the same way I do, with ball to feet and seeking channels, so we do well together,” the Paris Saint-Germain star told Rai Sport.

“It’s early to think about the future, we have to focus on the present and take it one game at a time. We saw some changes in our approach, especially in midfield.

“The result does not fully reflect the performance, it’s our first friendly with this new system and we had some positives.

“In modern football, the team is the most important thing. I have always said the jersey of the Nazionale is different to everything else, it’s a big responsibility and we must play for our country first and foremost, giving something extra.”

Verratti’s agent Mino Raiola made some damning statements about the Italian Football Federation, calling it “disgusting” for snubbing Mario Balotelli.

“Raiola is his own person, I am someone else, he can have his own thoughts. He wasn’t talking about me, so it’s not right that I get involved.”
