Roma’s on-loan defender Thomas Vermaelen will return to parent club Barcelona due to injury, reports say.
The Belgian joined the Giallorossi in the summer, but has been absent since early September and has played just twice in Serie A this term.
Due to the fact that Vermaelen is about to turn 31 and has a long history of injury problems, Spanish newspaper Don Balon reports that Roma will turn down the option to buy the player, returning him to the Catalan club.
