Ventura: ‘Italy will qualify for the World Cup’

Italy have picked up draws against Bulgaria and Switzerland in the World Cup qualifiers, but Giampiero Ventura ensures the Azzurri will have ‘no problem’ in qualifying for Qatar 2022.

Ventura is infamously known for missing out on a 2018 World Cup qualification with the Azzurri.

Roberto Mancini’s side are now the Group C leaders with 11 points in five games. However, Switzerland follow the Azzurri with seven points and two games in hand.

“It was predictable to see the team struggling after the summer break, but I am sure this side will have no problems in qualifying for the World Cup,” Ventura told Adnkronos.

“We must win every game to be sure about qualifying and this team can surely make it,” the coach continued.

“After winning the Euros, this team has reached maturity and a considerable international worth. It will be a different story when we play the next games in autumn.”

The Azzurri picked up back to back draws against Bulgaria and Switzerland and face last-placed Lithuania on Wednesday.
