Ventura hails Mancini’s Italy reign

Former Italy CT Giampiero Ventura has hailed Roberto Mancini’s reign. “I’m in full agreement with the work he’s done.”

Mancini replaced Ventura after Italy’s failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and has gone on to not only revitalise the national team but also leave them on the verge of the Finals at Euro 2020.

“Mancini until now has been very good, beyond the calibre of teams he’s faced, and I’m in full agreement with the work he’s done,” the Salernitana boss told Julia Italia.

“In particular, I’d like to focus on our batch of young talents, who are extremely important.

“Some have grown a huge amount like Chiesa, Barella and Sensi… Di Lorenzo, on the other hand, has been one of the best new faces. I also highlight Zaniolo from Roma.

“The hope I have for Italy is not just to qualify for Euro 2020, qualification that will be 99 percent achieved, but above all form a tough core that gives young players a chance, with a path that can become historic for our nation.

“Italy must get back where they deserve to be, which is among the great sides.”
