Torino coach Paolo Vanoli says that his team’s 2-1 win over Atalanta on Sunday has ‘added another piece to our football puzzle’ and claims that the result backs up the strong performance the players put in against Milan last weekend.

Torino rose to a 2-1 victory at home against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta on Sunday evening, despite falling behind to a Mateo Retegui header. Ivan Ilic and full debutant Che Adams came up with the Toro goals.

What Vanoli said about Torino victory, Zapata and Adams

Speaking during his post-match press conference later in the evening, Vanoli made sure to credit his players first and foremost.

“I congratulate my lads, they’re put in an important shift, which backs up our performance against Milan. It’s August and we dropped off a bit in San Siro, but now we have put more fuel in the tank and we have added another piece to our footballing puzzle.”

Vanoli also believes that Duvan Zapata has become an ‘important’ leader for his team.

“He has shown it, praise is also due for those guys who have come in. We are becoming a good team, I am lucky to have five really good forwards.

The coach is also particularly pleased with the showing of new signing Che Adams.

“We took him because he’s a great player, like all our other strikers. Sanabria did well in Milan, I like playing with two strikers.”
