Marco van Basten says he would never have given the Milan job to Clarence Seedorf, and urges the club to give the role to Roberto Donadoni.
The Rossoneri brought in Seedorf in January but in seeing the side still struggle for form this term, they are expected to release him in favour of Parma’s Donadoni, or Primavera boss Pippo Inzaghi.
“Had it been me, I would never have entrusted the Milan bench to [Seedorf],” Van Basten has reflected to Sky on the situation this week.
“The Rossoneri need a more experienced tactician. Donadoni, for example, is perfect, he has been training for 15 years and has the profile and experience needed for this bench.
“At Milan they need experience, but there is also a very talented Coach there in Inzaghi. If they decide to entrust him to the bench, then he would need time.”
The retired striker was asked about continued scrutiny over Mario Balotelli’s chances of reaching the very heights of the game.
“In my opinion, Mario is already world class. The problem is that to become a true champion, he needs greater solidity at a psychological level.”
