Fiorentina’s Borja Valero says he dreamed of spending his career playing for the Viola’s next pre-season opponents, Real Madrid.

Vincenzo Montella’s team take on Los Blancos in Warsaw on Saturday, with the playmaker having learned his trade at the Bernabeu club as a youngster.

“The match with Real Madrid? I am happy because it will be a good test given that we are playing a team who has won the Champions League and European Super Cup,” Valero said to Sky Sport.

“For me it’s a special match because I grew up there and they taught me everything that I know.

“It will be emotional, my dream was to play in that shirt for my whole life. In the end it wasn’t possible but I am pleased with what I have done in football.

Valero then insisted that Fiorentina’s strike partnership of Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez were capable of playing for any club in Europe.

“Rossi and Gomez? They are a pair who could play for any European team, including Real Madrid.

“We hope to reach the first day of the League with a winning team.”
