‘Udinese can reach Europe’

Cyril Thereau believes that whilst Udinese have room to improve, they are capable of aiming for European qualification this season.

The Zebrette have begun the season under Andrea Stramaccioni strongly and currently third in Serie A thanks to four wins from the opening five rounds.

It’s a start that has their French forward dreaming of more than just a fight against relegation.

“This team has quality, we can aspire towards Europe,” Thereau has told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“This is a team that has been in Europe three years in a row. They have told me ‘we are staying calm’.

“True, we need to improve our running with and our handling of the ball.

“But there is an important structure in place, excellent organisation and it seems to me that we are on the right track.”
