Italy are out of the European Under-19 Championship after a 2-1 defeat to Spain, despite originally taking the lead through Davide Merola.
The Azzurrini needed a victory to progress to the semi-finals and were 1-0 up at half-time thanks to a free kick from Inter youth product Merola.
However, it all fell apart on the hour mark, when a Sergi Gomez corner bounced in off unfortunate midfielder Lorenzo Gavioli.

Moments later, Iyenoma Destiny Udogie brought down Ruiz for a penalty that the same player converted, even though goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi almost got a hand to it.
Hellas Verona left-back Udogie completed a disastrous display with a second yellow card late on, making any hopes of an Italy fightback improbable.
