According to La Gazzetta dello Sport two Saudi clubs matched Paulo Dybala’s release clause in January, but the Argentinean star decided to stay in the capital.
Dybala could leave the Stadio Olimpico for a club outside Serie A in the first two weeks of January for a €12m clause and according to Gazzetta, two clubs from the Saudi Pro League had matched this fee in the opening stages of the winter transfer window.
However, La Joya decided to remain at Roma, where he has a contract until June 2025.
According to the report from Friday’s printed newspaper edition on page 22, Dybala is happy in the capital and would gladly extend his contract with the Giallorossi.
He reportedly appreciated Daniele De Rossi’s motivational speech on his first day at the club and will be available for Saturday’s Serie A game against Hellas Verona.
According to Gazzetta, the same €12m clause for clubs outside Serie A will be valid throughout July 2024, but Dybala hopes to sit down with club directors to negotiate a contract extension earlier.
