Hellas Verona coach Igor Tudor warns the 4-0 result against Spezia does not tell the whole story. ‘There are many things we need to improve.’
It was already 3-0 by half-time at the Stadio Bentegodi, with Giovanni Simeone’s header, a Marco Davide Faraoni angled drive and Gianluca Caprari curler into the top corner.
Daniel Bessa added a fourth late on with a counter-attack, which he drilled in at the near post.
“After a 4-0 and eight fine points, I can only congratulate the lads. We played well, deserved the victory, but also have many things that still need to improve and we will work on,” Tudor told DAZN.
“To be perfectly honest, I didn’t see the right intensity and aggression today. It was a deserved result and all, but we weren’t pressing them as high as we have done in other games.
“Our goalkeeper made two or three extraordinary saves and didn’t allow Spezia to get back into the game, so we brought it home, but it was far from perfect.”
Verona have been surprisingly democratic in their goals, spreading them out between many different players in recent fixtures.
“We already discussed it, I am happy with the squad and a coach is always pleased when his forwards score, as it helps their self-esteem. Those movements right and left are things we worked on.”
