Giovanni Trapattoni has rejected the idea that Juventus’ success this season is down to luck, calling Antonio Conte a ‘Coach of absolute value’.

The Old Lady is on course for a record points haul this term in Serie A and a third successive Scudetto for the first time since the 1930s.

“They are a strong team, which has all the requirements to win,” former Bianconero tactician Trapattoni has explained to the Corriere dello Sport today.

“What counts is achieving success, and Antonio Conte knows how to do so. He is a Coach of absolute value and I hope they reach the record of 100 points – it would be fantastic.

“Have Juve also been lucky? Luck can help you once, a maximum of two tines.

“Conte’s team is used to playing a certain style of football and obtain in this way their results.

“Cynicism, balance and practicality are key features to winning and theirs is a football with a European mentality.”

In Europe, however, the team have disappointed with early exits from the Champions League in the last two years.

“It depends on many factors, from the quality of the opposition to the greatest athletic strength. But I am certain that the Bianconeri will come back in the Champions League.

“They are now in the Europa League, a difficult competition that can bring satisfaction, whilst their progress is also thanks to the rotations that Conte is doing.”
