Inter director Piero Ausilio has returned to Italy after meeting Chelsea directors in London, but the Blues are not currently considering loan offers for Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Ausilio met Chelsea directors in London on Thursday, beginning talks for both players. He returned to Italy on Thursday afternoon.
As already reported by several media, an agreement doesn’t seem to be behind the corner as Chelsea are not considering loaning the pair at the moment.
Sky Sport Italia’s transfer pundit Luca Marchetti added more details on Thursday afternoon.
“It was the first formal approach between the two clubs. Many Chelsea players are not in the club’s plan and will leave. Inter are interested in two of them, Lukaku and Koulibaly. However, the first reply from Chelsea was cold. They are not considering loaning players at this stage. This is an option that is usually considered in the second part of the transfer window,” the journalist explained.
“However, Chelsea must sell some players, so the process could be accelerated. Inter are waiting now.”
So, which is the players’ stance? Are they open to joining the Nerazzurri?
“I think there is no doubt that Lukaku wants to stay at Inter. Koulibaly is in a different situation, but he struggled at Chelsea this season, and returning to Italy could relaunch his career.”
Lukaku spent the last season on loan at the Stadio Meazza, but Inter do not have an option to make his move permanent.
Marchetti added that Inter want Chelsea to pay part of Lukaku and Koulibaly’s salaries if they move to the Stadio Meazza on loan.
Chelsea didn’t ask for any Inter player, so André Onana or Denzel Dumfries are not currently involved in the negotiation.
