Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has underlined his intention to renew the contract of Danilo D’Ambrosio.

The defender is only committed to Toro until June 2014 and the club are in a race against time to extend his terms before he could leave on a Bosman free transfer.

“We are working on a renewal,” Petrachi told Radio Kiss Kiss. “We want to make him understand that the best thing for him would be to continue here.

“There will soon be some developments.”

Napoli have been linked with the 25-year-old, but the Azzurri have today told the same radio station that they’ve made no contact.

“D’Ambrosio still belongs to Torino,” Napoli director Riccardo Bigon stated when asked about the full-back.

“I’ve often dealt with players who have expiring contracts and I can say that not all clubs are as correct as we are.

“We respect the rules.

“I don’t want to make any judgements about him.”
