Toro: Mazzarri & Belotti staying

Torino owner Urbano Cairo has confirmed that the club ‘will start over’ with Walter Mazzarri and Andrea Belotti next season.

Mazzarri has managed to steady the ship at Torino since replacing Sinisa Mihajlovic midseason, while Belotti has put a knee injury behind him, despite the goals drying up for the Italy striker.

“This season didn’t go as we wanted, now there’s more regret on our part,” Cairo said after Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Napoli.

“This season didn’t go as we wanted, now there’s more regret on our part,” Cairo said after Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Napoli.

“That’s because 62 points are needed Europe, while we are 14 behind that figure and have two games left: that means we threw away 10 points in winnable matches.

“Still, now we need to think about the future for a team that’s on a par with our Mazzarri, who has put together some plans for the squad and will give us information on who to keep and who to move on. We’ll start over with him and Belotti.”
