As the council owns the stadium, any decision over a name change will rest with them, but the mayor of the city doesn’t expect any problems.

“I’ve written to President Urbano Cairo about the name change of the stadium,” Piero Fassino told reporters.

“I see no reason why it can’t be done, and I’m absolutely in favour, I told Cairo that too. The city council will talk about it in the afternoon, I think the talks will be short.”

It was also confirmed that the city’s iconic Mole Antonelliana may be lit-up in Torino colours on May 4, the anniversary of the crash.
