Tommasi raises contract issue

Players’ Association President Damiano Tommasi insists the only way they can move through the issue of contracts expiring is ‘with a gentleman’s agreement.’

The season is extended to at least August because of the two-month lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic, but contracts still expire on June 30.

“It’s impossible to get a legal extension,” AIC President Tommasi told Sky Sport Italia.

“A gentlemen’s agreement is an option, but there are so many different situations. There are Serie A clubs with players on loan to other teams, so we need an agreement from all three parties.

“Let’s not even mention those players whose contracts expire on June 30 and have perhaps already signed for another club. I can see people trying to make the most of this situation.”
