“I am very happy. It truly is a dream come true,” said Brazil-born Toloi.
“There had been some talk about it lately, but FIFA only gave the authorisation for me to be called up a couple of months ago, even though I took Italian citizenship over 10 years ago.
“I played 200 games with the Atalanta jersey and the 200th was in the Champions League against Real Madrid. I never thought I’d get where I am now.
“I must thank President Antonio Percassi and his son Luca, who always made their presence felt, coach Gian Piero Gasperini who made me become a better player and my teammates who always supported me.
“I send a special thank you to my family and friends, as their support was fundamental. I know there’s a lot of responsibility on me now, but as always, I will do my best.”
