Attilio Tesser may have led the minnows from the Italian Third Division to the top flight in consecutive seasons, but he is this morning facing the threat of the axe.

Novara lost 2-0 at Palermo in their latest tie and they are now seven points adrift of survival – the target they set themselves at the start of the campaign.

Tesser’s side, despite some January additions to their squad, have now lost four of their last five games. They’ve won just two matches all season and their last triumph was in Week 13 against Parma.

Speculation suggests that Novara may turn to Giuseppe Papadopulo if they do decide to show Tesser the door.

Papadopulo hasn’t worked since an 11-day stint at Torino in the 2010-11 campaign. Papa has also bossed the likes of Lazio, Palermo, Siena and Bologna.
