Ten years at Inter: Handanovic renewal imminent

Today is the 10th anniversary of Samir Handanovic’s arrival at Inter and his contract extension is set to be announced soon.

The Slovenian shot stopper joined the Nerazzurri on July 9 2012 from Udinese in a deal worth around €15m, having impressed with the Friulian side. In the last decade, Handanovic has made 438 appearances across all competitions, conceding 451 goals and keeping 161 clean sheets. He is now the club’s captain and his adventure in the Lombardy capital will continue.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Inter are expected to announce Handanovic’s contract renewal at some point today, on the 10th anniversary of his arrival. Things have already been signed but nothing has been officially announced yet.

The Nerazzurri signed Andre Onana on a free transfer earlier this month and he’s expected to become the long-term number one in Lombardy, so renewing Handanovic’s deal gives the Milanese club a way to help the Cameroonian’s adaption.
