The Rossoneri host Cagliari on Sunday night, knowing that a win would move them back into the top four.
However, the race for Champions League qualification is tight, and the Spaniard insists that Milan can’t be complacent this weekend and risk dropping points.
“I think these type of games are the most important ones, the ones in which you can drop points that you need at the end of the season,” he told Milan TV.
“We must continue to be a team, as we’re doing. We’re defending better, even if we score less. I’m sure if we don’t concede goals, we’ll score them. We must continue like this.”
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old also threw his full support behind Gattuso, while praising January arrivals Lucas Paqueta and Krzysztof Piatek.
“I have a very good relationship with Gattuso,” he added. “I think since he arrived, he’s the right Coach at the right time, He’s perfect for us.
“On the pitch, Paqueta understands everything he has to do. Off the pitch, he’s young, but he’s learning Italian and integrating into the group more.
“Piatek is always moving, looking for the ball. It’s the same with Cutrone, it’s a special thing with him on the pitch.
“I always know where he is even when I’m under pressure, he’s always there. Piatek is still new, he’s just arrived. We must get to know each other better, and it’s the same with everyone.”
