Parma director Pietro Leonardo reveals “Sunderland made an offer for Jonathan Biabiany, but we turned it down.”
The Ducali brought in Joel Obi and Walter Gargano on loan from Inter and Napoli during the final days of the transfer session.
“We did our best on the market and we refused several proposals,” general manager Leonardo told Parma Channel.
“For example, Sunderland had made us an offer for Biabiany, but we turned it down. We also rejected a bid for Nicola Sansone. This is a squad that includes all the necessary alternatives. “
Biabiany is a 25-year-old attacking right winger who last season scored two goals and provided six assists in 34 Serie A games.
“We chose Obi on loan due to our excellent rapport with Inter. The lad has great potential, he just needs to prove it. We needed a player with his characteristics in midfield, but we only got Obi and Gargano near the end of the transfer session because these moves required patience.
“It was a difficult session, as we bought 40 players aged between 15 and 17, among the most interesting in Italy.”
