The striker was a hero for Sardinian supporters when he left for Inter in 2007, but spent most of that time on the bench or on loan to Benfica and Genoa.

As of Friday, 31-year-old Suazo completed his comeback by signing a one-year contract with an option to extend for a second term.

“I am so happy that I can return to Cagliari,” he told Honduran newspaper Diez.

“I thank God for this opportunity. I want to go back to playing like I did in the old days.”

Suazo wore the Cagliari jersey from 1999 to 2007 and in 2005-06 set a new club record as top scorer in a single season with 22 goals.
