The Giallorossi have been without the Dutchman since he sustained a cruciate ligament injury during a defeat to Napoli in March, but the 24-year-old has recently returned to training.

The Corriere della Sera reports that Strootman will be gradually reintroduced to the first team, and will make his return to match action with the Primavera side on Sunday.

The newspaper reports that Strootman will line up for Alberto De Rossi’s side against Latina, with the game being played at Testaccio rather than Di Bartolemei so that Strootman doesn’t have to play on synthetic grass.
